Job Summary
The Automation Technician designs, builds, sets up, assesses, and maintains integrated automated mechanical
systems on new and existing equipment, including robotics, cameras, sensors, PLCs, and hydraulic/pneumatic
systems, to ensure production quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Accountabilities
Builds, tests, and installs integrated automated mechanical systems and components for plastic injection
molding machinery
Completes mechanical automation assembly per assembly drawings, automation wiring per electrical
schematics, and pneumatic assembly per pneumatic schematics
Programs controllers for robotics and integrates with network systems
Reviews and refines existing robot programs for operational efficiency
Works closely with Engineering, Tooling, and Maintenance staff, Production Operators, and other
manufacturing personnel to resolve questions/concerns related to automation techniques and procedures
Works with Engineering to determine end of arm tooling needs and to automate robotics functions to
reduce direct labor needs
Troubleshoots and eliminates system errors to decrease production downtime
Train other staff on robotic operations, programs, and teachings of robot movement
Perform preventative maintenance on molding presses, other machinery or auxiliary equipment as
assigned to include cleaning and lubricating shafts of bearings, gears, and other parts of molding presses
along with other machinery and auxiliary equipment
Comply with all company established, and state and federal guidelines on Health, Safety and Environment
and operational requirements
Perform other tasks as needed to support business needs

Education & Experience
Associates degree or certification in related field preferred; may consider prior experience in leiu of education/training
Five (5) years automation in an injection molding manufacturing environment experience
Functional experience with computers and CAD/Solid Works software
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles,
moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The
employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme temperatures.
Position will be assigned to an identified shift; however, flexibility to work alternate shifts and overtime is
required according to business needs.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping and occasional sitting
Remain in a stationary position
Move about the inside/outside of the facility
Ascend/descend stairs or ladders
Frequently position oneself and move under/around/over equipment
Constantly manage/adjust/inspect/position assorted items and equipment
Constantly perform tasks that require repetitive handling/adjusting/inspecting/positioning of items and
equipment
Constantly communicate and exchange information with others
Ability to frequently lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds at one time, occasionally up to seventy-five (75)pounds
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced
Travel
Domestic and international travel may be required to meet with vendors and suppliers
