Job Summary
The Injection Molding Tool Maker performs repairs and maintenance on all injection molds and fixtures used in
the operation of the manufacturing facility as well as managing vendors and the process for repairs completed
externally.

Duties/Responsibilities
 Perform injection mold maintenance to include disassembly, cleaning, insert changing, and repair
 Troubleshoot molds to include hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, and mechanical fixes
 Construct post molding fixturing for production and secondary operations
 Maintain the preventive maintenance records for tooling per established procedures
 Assure tool readiness according to the production schedule
 Recommend changes required to part design, tool design or equipment capability to achieve acceptable
quality and cost requirement
 Participate and offer input to corrective and preventive action and continuous improvement projects
 Set up and operate tool shop equipment including CNC vertical mill, milling, manual lathes, and surface
grinders
 Utilize precision measurement techniques using micrometers, calipers, comparator, gage blocks and
indicators
 Maintain proper housekeeping practices and mold storage requirements
 Adhere to all safety guidelines including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
 Perform other duties as assigned

 Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
 Able to work under time pressure and prioritize project requirements
 Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other manufacturing related equipment
 Accuracy and ability to follow-through

Education & Experience
 High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or certification in related field preferred
 Ten (10) years plastic injection mold building experience
 Journeyman License preferred
 Inclusive knowledge & understanding of tooling, tool room practices, and fabricating techniques
 Functional knowledge of computers and CAD/CAM software; Master Cam preferred, Solid Works a plus
 Proficient in basic data entry and computer skills

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme temperatures. Position will be assigned to an identified shift; however, flexibility to work alternate shifts and overtime is required according to business needs.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping and occasional sitting
Remain in a stationary position
Move about the inside/outside of the facility
Ascend/descend stairs or ladders
Frequently position oneself and move under/around/over equipment
Constantly handle/adjust/inspect/position various items and equipment
Constantly perform tasks that require repetitive handling/adjusting/inspecting/positioning of items and equipment
Constantly communicate and exchange information with others
Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds at one time, occasionally up to 75 pounds
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced Travel Domestic and international travel may be required to meet with vendors and suppliers.
